"It's all about your priorities."
Have you ever felt totally overwhelmed with things/work/people that all simultaneously need your attention?
You need to meet a crucial dateline, and yet there's this movie you've been dying to watch that a bunch of friends are catching tonight. On top of that, there's this dinner appointment you've rescheduled at least 3 times. You've barely spoken to your parents for weeks. Your mobile is ringing of the hook, with friends that need a listening ear. Fitness classes, gym, yoga. Not forgetting the load of dirty laundry, dirty room, un-ironed clothes...and the "to-do" list goes endlessly on.
"I wish there were more than 24 hours in a day!" I'd bet you've often screamt silently or whined to poor souls unfortunate enough to be your friends. Haha.
But, I suppose, having more things to do than you have time for means that you're leading a fulfilling life? I mean, consider the alternative: having too much time on your hand and nothing to fill it with. I'd think your life would be empty. Boring. Lacking in colour and meaning.
But then of course, there are days when you just feel like tearing your hair out with the amount of responsibilities that seem to weigh down like a ton of bricks on your shoulders. And there doesn't seem to be an end to the demands from everyone. Bosses, friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances. Obligations that need to be fulfilled, commitments that tie you down, duties that have to be completed. It's a scary thought that as you grow older, the responsibilies just get worst! Kids, parents-in-laws, bank loans, unpaid bills...
"It's all about your priorities," I'm sure you've all been told a thousand times. Setting priorities 'correctly', cleverly juggling between your duties, andblindly smartly choosing which facet in your life needs most attention and you'll be just peachy keen. Your life will work like clock work. A time and place for everything. Not a single minute detail out of place.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, easier said than done!" I'm sure you've all screamt.
And I couldn't agree more.
Because you see, at the moment I'm blogging although I haven't even started on filling my tax form (due in two weeks) which I thought of doing this weekend. And it's almost 1am and tomorrow's Monday and I have a pile of work waiting for me at the office, and my mum complained I haven't been calling as often, and there's a good friend's wedding coming up next week and more obligations, commitments, duties, etc etc etc...
I guess I should start prioritizing better soon eh?
Or perhaps, take a step back, a deep breath and try to look at things from a better perspective.
